Making my way back to Shores-cago

Okay, that was terrible. I’m sorry.

Last night was my second night back in the cold, dark waters of sunny San Diego since our return from Belize. (I have so many photos from that trip that I’m intimidated by them. Eventually they’ll get sorted and posted. Promise!)

Monday night, I joined the crew of the Marissa to tie some new moorings on the local wrecks, but the camera did not make a cameo. So last night I dragged it down to the Shores for some much-overdue muck diving. And mucky it was, with that hazy visibility in the 10-15′ range that we know and love, and some… let’s call them “brisk” temperatures (nothing out of the ordinary, but a shock post-Caribbean nonetheless). We saw so much stuff, though, that ultimately the numb fingers and the leaky left drysuit arm issues barely factored in my enjoyment of the dive.

Like this teensy angel shark…

And the star of the show… a ray I’ve never seen before! I think it’s a Butterfly ray. I didn’t even know Butterfly ray was a THING!
