Despite having lived in Killington for four years, I never made it to the VINS Nature Center (just down the road in Quechee) until now. The center specializes in rehabilitation of injured birds, primarily birds of prey such as owls, hawks, falcons, and eagles. Although reintroduction into the natural habitat is the primary goal of VINS, many of the birds at the facility have crippling injuries that will not permit them to be released into the wild. This eagle is one of those birds: it sustained damage to its wing and has limited flight ability.
Check out those claws!

What an amazing bird. It’s quite a sight to see an eagle up close.
Awesome eagle shots!
