San Diego: Unconditional Surrender (The Kiss)
In the Port of San Diego stands a 25-foot-tall replica of the famous photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt, V-J Day in Times Square. The photo ran in Life Magazine in 1945 with the caption, “In New York’s Times Square a white-clad girl clutches her purse and skirt as an uninhibited sailor plants his lips squarely on hers.”
In the background is the USS Midway, a now-retired aircraft carrier that was commissioned in 1945, only a month after Eisenstaedt took his iconic photo.

Great shot! We were in San Diego in August last year and this was one of our favorite areas. That sculpture is simply magnificent and larger than life. We toured the USS Midway and enjoyed eating at The Fish Market several times. Beautful city.
